Birth is one of the most intense, vulnerable, and profound experiences of a lifetime. And yet, in most hospitals today, continuous personal support is rarely part of the picture. A doula changes that.
A doula is a trained birth companion — someone who stays with you through labour and birth, offering continuous emotional, physical, and informational support.
She is not a medical professional. She won't deliver your baby or make clinical decisions. What she will do is stay by your side — helping you cope, understand what's happening, supporting your partner, and making sure your voice is heard. If things don't go to plan, she doesn't leave. She helps you navigate whatever comes, with steadiness and care.
For centuries, women gave birth surrounded by other experienced women — mothers, sisters, wise elders who knew what birth looked and felt like. That continuous presence made a difference. Today, a doula is the closest thing to that.
The research evidence backs this up. Having a doula has been shown to:
IN-PERSON DOULA SUPPORT (Bangalore):
Fee: approximately ₹25,000–35,000 depending on your needs. Happy to discuss and put together something that works for you.
REMOTE DOULA SUPPORT (India and Overseas) :
Not in Bangalore? That's okay. Remote doula support was something we developed carefully, and it works.
We meet over video several times through your pregnancy — to understand you, build a birth plan, and prepare your partner. As labour begins, I stay available remotely throughout, guiding both of you through each stage with calm, informed support. Combined with childbirth education, many families have found this model genuinely transformative.

"My partner will be there — do we really need a doula?"
A partner's love is irreplaceable. But labour is long, intense, and hard to prepare for. A doula doesn't replace your partner — she supports them too. Most partners say their doula helped them feel more present and involved, not less.
"My doctor hasn't heard of doulas / isn't sure about them."
This is common. Most hesitation comes from not knowing what a doula does. When your care provider understands that a doula is there purely to support you — not to interfere — there's rarely an issue. I'm happy to meet your doctor or share the evidence if that would help.
"What if I end up needing a lot of interventions or a caesarean?"
I stay. A doula's role isn't contingent on the birth going a certain way. Whatever unfolds, I'll be there to help you understand what's happening, make informed choices, and feel held through it.
"I'd love a doula but I'm worried about the cost."
